Dr. Devank Lohiya – Spine Surgeon Dr. Devank Lohiya is an orthopaedic spine surgeon specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders affecting the spine and spinal nerves. With advanced training in minimally invasive and endoscopic spine surgery, his clinical practice focuses on providing precise diagnosis, personalized treatment, and modern evidence-based care for patients suffering from spinal conditions. Dr. Lohiya completed his MBBS and MS in Orthopaedics, followed by advanced fellowships in modern spine surgery techniques. He holds a Fellowship in Endoscopic Spine Surgery (FIESS) and a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (FIMISS), which provide specialized expertise in treating complex spine disorders using less invasive and tissue-preserving surgical techniques. His clinical interests include the management of slip disc (disc herniation), sciatica, spinal stenosis, degenerative spine disorders, and spine trauma. Whenever possible, treatment begins with conservative management including physiotherapy, medications, and rehabilitation, reserving surgery for patients who truly require it. Dr. Devank Lohiya has a special interest in advanced motion-preserving and anterior spine procedures, including Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion (ALIF) and Lumbar Disc Replacement surgery. Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion (ALIF) is a specialized spine surgery performed through the front (anterior) approach to the spine, allowing direct access to the damaged disc without disturbing the back muscles. This technique helps achieve better disc height restoration, improved spinal alignment, and strong fusion stability. Lumbar Disc Replacement is an advanced motion-preserving spine surgery where the damaged spinal disc is replaced with an artificial disc implant. Unlike traditional fusion surgery, this procedure helps maintain natural movement of the spine, which can reduce stress on adjacent spinal levels. These advanced procedures require high surgical expertise and specialized training, and are currently performed by only a limited number of spine surgeons in India.
